Macro Monday home

Macro Monday is easy to play, snap a macro (or any close-up) photo, post it on your blog and come back here and sign Mr Linky. Don’t forget to visit each other. :)

I have always loved this little bird toothpick holder. It sits on my parents’ kitchen table and it’s a sign I’ve been ‘home’. It doesn’t matter that they live in a different house than the one I grew up in.

LC0050

Home is family surrounding you, laughter, love, and noise.

LC0049

And for me a pink bird offering toothpicks.

LC0048

What are things that make you think of home?

That’s a wonderful little family memento! And I love the crocheted tablecloth (?) it’s sitting on.

I had fun with a musical instrument this week. Music makes me think of home – and brings me home when I’m playing or singing.

Hope your week is a good one!

Awww! Great Macro Monday, Lisa. Now, for your question about what reminds us of home (and I’m thinking of “home” as “childhood home”)…oddly enough, it’s music. Just this weekend, my parents transferred a bunch of their old Christmas LPs onto CDs (they have some fancy-schmancy computer program that does that). These are recordings that I’ve been listening to since childhood. I just got them and haven’t had a chance to listen yet. But I am sure they will take me right back to those childhood Christmases, when happiness was fluffy flannel PJs, hot chocolate, Santa and a brand-new stuffed animal…*sigh*

as to what reminds me of home, at this time of year its if I hear the song Snoopys christmas played, I used to always hear it on the radio in the build up to christmas at home when I was young

Have a good week

Such a cute little thing…reminds me of my pie vent birds. I’ve got a doorstop – it’s a brick with a crocheted cat over it that my mom made.

Oh dear God. I hate to rain on your parade, but I have to tell you this. That toothpick holder would give me nightmares. You see, when I was about 7 I decided to rescue a baby bird. I put it in a box and it opened its mouth to me like I was its Momma. So, in 7 year old style, I went and got some bread (since I had seen my parents give birds…grown up birds…bread before). I soaked it with a bit with water (which, if you didn’t know makes bread EXPAND) and with tweezers, shoved my soggy offering down the baby’s throat. The inevitable happened…it blew up. The bread, not the bird, thank goodness, but the bird did die, very quickly. And I was devastated and felt responsible for YEARS! I have never quite gotten over it.

*sigh*

Lovely Macro Monday, but I am sorry to say I could not have that toothpick holder in my house! ;0)

the first macro I thought it was a fish!
My parents have been gone so long, but I have my moms old pie plates, a couple of bowls (cried when one broke)
I don’t have anything that reminds me of my dad, except my temper.

In the first photo, I thought is was a reed diffuser. My parents and parents in law have small barrel toothpick holders. Whenever I see someone else with one, it reminds me of the ones from our parents’ homes.

What fun … I loved your photo reminders of home … and find myself smelling sugar cookies and pies with thin flakey homemade crusts baking. It’s been YEARS since my mom was around for those things … or to play carols on the piano for us to all gather ‘roung to sing along.
Hugs and blessings,
