Looks like the carvings in these trunks have really scarred. I like the heart in God.
The date in these are what caught my eye, 1818 above and 1896 below.
Macro Monday is easy to play, snap a macro (or any close-up) photo, post it on your blog and come back here and sign MckLinky.

tree carvings seem to be universal. As long as the trees don’t suffer to much. A documentary saved for the future. I like the top one

Great photos! I’m torn about carvings in trees. They’re fascinating, but I don’t like to see trees damaged. If I see someone doing any tree carving, I yell at them. LOL!

Amazed how many of these carvings you discovered. What a great series, Lisa.

What interesting photos! guess the trees grow so slowly that the carvings don’t warp out of shape even after a hundred years.
Thanks for hosting!

The true stars of the tree carvings are the trees themselves! Their healing process is artful!

Happy Birthday to your hubs! =) Must say… tree carvings always make me think of the movie ‘Fern Gully’ and then I have to cringe a little. =\ These are pretty cool though. Shows the tree’s perseverance to survive!
