I like crabs as long as I know where they are, not so sure of them when I stumble upon them though.
This one didn’t bother me at all, but this isn’t exactly how I found it though.

That first one in the water looks like I could reach and touch him – I wouldn’t want to. I would have lost the shot had he started to move if I’d been you.

I laughed at Kath, your first commenter. I once did ruin a beautiful and expensive camera (a Contax SLR) when we were in New Zealand. I was so concentrating on my shot, wading out into the sea for a good view, when a wave came up and wobbled me, I staggered, dropped the camera and .. while it didn’t actually go into the sea (it was on the neck strap), it got badly splashed and was never the same again. It still works, but only sometimes. LOL!

Never seen a crab with this coloring. The ones we have up here are variants of the Blue Crabs you find in Chesapeake Bay. And I’ve often wondered how you manage to get these tight shots in the surf/tide without getting your camera wet too. Care to share that secret?? LOVE the first shot!
