When we were in Florida last winter we spent some time combing the beach for shark’s teeth. We had a lot of fun and found hundreds in just a few hours time.
It was fun watching them wash in and trying to catch them before they were taken back out.
A few people have wondered which beach we went to, well I happened to snap a photo of the sign so I wouldn’t forget, lol.
Macro Monday is easy to play, snap a macro (or any close-up) photo, post it on your blog and come back here and sign MckLinky.
MM started on Sept 29, 2008 – THANX to all of you for helping make it such a fun start to the week!

Wow Lisa, I’ve never seen this before. Great macro.
You know, I cannot help but imagine some sharks going around toothless (can you imagine a caricature?), and some with sparkling shiny sets of dentures (imagine another caricature!)
Have a nice week!

That is truly the darnest thing I ever heard. We don’t get sharks teeth washing up, here. Wonder why they wash up there!

Hi Lisa,
As a science teacher I can’t tell you how fascinating this is to me. Can you tell us which beach in Florida or is this a well-guarded secret?
I love their beauty and these are great shots!

I first didn’t understand and had to google for Shark’s teeth, lol ! I thought they were kind of little stones you find on the beach, but apparently these are really teeth ! Besides that the pictures are so neat and clear, I know feel like seeing a dentist’s technician making up false teeth for a shark ! I safe myself !

Woah! I didn’t realize these were shark teeth. I thought they were peculiar looking small stones or pebbles. The constant wearing of the elements made the surfaces of the teeth smooth. That’s quite a collection there.

That is so precious, Lisa! They look like rocks. I will post mine when I get home later!

Had you shown those things without explanation I wouldn’t have had any idea what they were! Ouch, they remind me that I have a few dental jobs ahead of me…

That’s really cool. They look almost fossilized.

Fantastic!
Assuming that there are waves that grinds them so attractive.
Now I have participated for the first time!

Great to use the teeth as subject. something I would have chosen also, had I found them. Our minds must think alike!
Beaches are a no-go area for my wheels though. Unlike many other of your visitors, I did recognise them. Had seen them before-had no camera at the time.
Well done and take care,
Yoke.

Who’d have thought it.
I am surprised that they don’t look sharp.
Were they worn and polished by the sea and the sand?
