After touring downtown Philly we stopped at Valley Forge. We didn’t have time to walk the place, although it looks like fun to do, but we did take the time to drive it and stop at a few sights.
Some of the old soldier’s quarters.
Sometimes I think it would be nice to go back to simpler times and log homes, but I think I would miss my internet and cell phone.
So much to see! So much history!
The handles I shared yesterday are on some doors here.
Memorials everywhere.
The backside of things.
And one of the rows of cannons.

Beautiful photos! Thank you so much for your kind offer regarding my sister. My husband’s sister has been battling cancer the last few years & she & my sister have become very close. So, my sister does have someone she is conversing with. Right now, she is just trying to get through the effects of her 1st chemo, which hit her very hard. She is surrounded by family who are helping her, but she does appreciate all the help she can get in the “prayer” category. Thank you so much, your words mean a great deal to us.
your friend,
Sharon:)

Love historical places…and you’re right, so many to get to! Thanks for sharing this one. It’s nice to experience vicariously at least until I make it there

What a wonderful capture of history. I love those cabins. I don’t think I could survive living simply as I love my computer way to much to give it up. I did however grow up in a modern day log cabin situated in the head of a holler. It’s where my fondest memories of the mountains are. Great photos. Have a wonderful day.

If the log cabin and wood-fired stove were all you’d ever known, you wouldn’t miss your mod’n conveniences. You wouldn’t know any better. Sometimes I think that life was better, most times I think we just didn’t know enough to realize it was just as bad, just for different reasons.

Hi Lisa, We visited Valley Forge, about 20 years ago. I was so memorable. I really enjoyed you post and posts, they brought it all back. No simpler times for me. No, way!

We used to go there when I was little … and it looks much the same except for the visitor center. To be honest, we used to go there for sledding!

I’d be giddy without the cellphone (or any phone) and would be fine without the internet. I often think I was meant to live in a older, simpler time. Then I think about running water and how infrequent bathing was, and I’m not so sure.

That looks like a wonderful historic place. You Americans always say you haven’t got that ? This post proves you do!!
