I’d be giddy without the cellphone (or any phone) and would be fine without the internet. I often think I was meant to live in a older, simpler time. Then I think about running water and how infrequent bathing was, and I’m not so sure.

We used to go there when I was little … and it looks much the same except for the visitor center. To be honest, we used to go there for sledding!

If the log cabin and wood-fired stove were all you’d ever known, you wouldn’t miss your mod’n conveniences. You wouldn’t know any better. Sometimes I think that life was better, most times I think we just didn’t know enough to realize it was just as bad, just for different reasons.

What a wonderful capture of history. I love those cabins. I don’t think I could survive living simply as I love my computer way to much to give it up. I did however grow up in a modern day log cabin situated in the head of a holler. It’s where my fondest memories of the mountains are. Great photos. Have a wonderful day.
